YUI

Who hasn’t heard of YUI? Even some non-anime fans I know have come to love YUI’s delicious guitar sound, paired with a sound voice that is powerful enough to grab you and sturdy enough not to be girly.

YUI started getting famous in Japan at around 2005 with singles Life and Feel My Soul. But it was not only until she sang two OPs for Bleach, -Rolling Star and Life- when she became truly internationally known. Since then, YUI has released two albums, lots of singles and starred in a movie. And she’s only two years older than me!! She has a band of course but plays some of the guitar parts in her songs- and she writes most of them.

I foresee a great future in the music industry, anime or otherwise, for YUI. She’s gone a long way from the mere aspiring guitarist-vocalist who carried her guitar around and sang in seashores and rice fields. I call her the Michelle Branch of Jpop as both are made of WIN.
